Me, Myself and I in the year of our Lord 2005.

January 2nd, 2006

Short but Sweet

Exactly one year ago I packed up my bags and moved from Buffalo, NY to Chicago, IL. Three weeks latter started a full time job, mostly on, but with plenty off, if that makes any sense. Three months later I met my then girlfriend and now fiance. Then came the move into a nice big apartment downtown Chicago, but not so good of a landlord. Then, some time in Agust, but most likely early September I began working on the idea of owning my own business. This was good, because unknown to me, soon I was going to be suffering under the plenty of off. Due to which we took few trips here and there, but mostly to NJ/NY.

Looking into 2006:

  1. Start the new job.
  2. Start the new company.
  3. Get a nicer living space.
  4. Few other things…. :)

Hive Minds Hosting is borne.

September 9th, 2005

The last hosting incident lead me to something I did not think I would really ever do. What that might be you are asking? Something that guarantees me that my web sites will remain always up and free of charge. I started my own hosting company – HiveMindsHosting.com. At the moment I am still in the process of setting up hosting plans, then I have to decide on prices, followed by developing a nice and interactive web site. I still have to do few other things, like signing up for financial accounts and setting up an order processing system. I have been working on this on and off for the last few days. It is an involved project. Not as easy as one might think, but yet pleasing and rewarding in the end

Jobs I have worked

May 4th, 2005

In the next lines I will tell you about the jobs I have held over the years. I will have the titles then I will have a short description of the job, followed by a story or few, if I have any to share. Few things to keep in mind:

  • The layout will not be permanent. As I think of new ways to better organize the material the structure will change.
  • As with any other work in progress, the information here is not everything nor it is complete. As time goes and I remember things about my jobs i will add them below. And of course, there will be many more jobs to come.

For now I think I will organize the jobs sequentially, i.e. as I have first worked them, regardless if i have gone back to the same job or not. If I have I will most likely mention it somewhere in the description or the stories.

With the above said, enjoy the reading.

Since I first started working back in 1989, I have had the opportunity to do and work variety of jobs. For starters, here is a list of what I have done.

Lodge decorations.

November 29th, 2004

Something I forgot to comment on when I wrote this entry and have been meaning to write but keep forgetting to. Both lodges were beautiful. The decorations in each of them were unique. For example the wall in the East of the Lackawanna building was drawn. It depicted King Solomon, Hiram Abif and [] as they were discussing the building plans of King Solomon’s Temple. The Lodge also had a full size pipe organ, although it was smaller than the ones I have seen in churches and cathedrals throughout Europe. It was good to hear it. The evening of the ceremony we had a visiting brother who played it for the ceremony. It was wonderful to attend a ceremony with music. I am saying that only because it is rare now-a-days to come to a lodge or ceremony where there is someone who knows how to play the pipe organ.

anika’s words of wisdom

November 29th, 2004

As short as this post might be, I feel the need to share the following with everyone. I love this, and I should learn from it, especially knowing how gloomy my personality some times tends to be and the excessive lack of sense of humor I posses. The following quote I found in the AIM profile of one of my gaming buddies.

anika’s words of wisdom:
**Never frown because you never know who’s falling in love with your smile!**

Good times at the ceremonies!

November 19th, 2004

Tonight I had another wonderful evening of ceremony with my fellow Masonic brothers. Tonight’s ceremony was at Buffalo Lakeland Lodge. At first I was just a visitor, but I was asked to be a fill in as a Steward for the evening. There were not enough line officers for the ceremony to take place! I did enjoy the evening a lot. We did a Second degree and raised two brothers. It was a wonderful opportunity to refresh some things and of course have a practice. I had not done second degree work in quite a long time. Afterwards the lodge had prepared home made chilly, which I loved. Usually I do not eat chilly, because I do not like how spicy people make it. This one, though, was amazing, it was not spicy at all and it was rich on meat. During the dinner, I also had an opportunity to mingle with the guys. I hear some really good stories from the times when they were rookies at their jobs and the pranks that were played on them by those who have been at the job longer.

Masonic Habitat for Humanity

October 19th, 2004

Today from 8:30 A.M. to 2:30 P.M I will be working with the Masonic Habitat for Humanity. I have not done this before, but I think it will be interesting and also good experience. I am not sure what I will be doing. I do not even know if we will be fixing up an old house or building a new one. I certainly hope that there will be something technical or electrical to work on. We will have to wait and see. I will post more in the afternoon after I get back.

On another note, I think I will take some pictures of my fountain and my bonsai tree and post then here. The bonsai tree looks great now, after I added the little figure of three elders sitting around a table, drinking and talking. It looks cool, because the way the figure was designed, it endow with the sense that the three elders are looking at the tree and maybe discussing it. It’s really nice.
